Recently, I’ve started using the Sony A7CR with the 24-70mm GM lens as my run around camera and taking it with me when I travel. As a nikon user, it took me a while to decide what smaller camera would be the best fit and landed on the Sony A7CR. I bought it a week before going to Thailand + Cambodia which were the perfect places to test out the new camera and get familiar quickly with the different brand after only using Nikon for the last 15 years.
I’m not really a technical shooter so I’m using it the way I would use my main camera and the switch over has been pretty seamless. I’ve enjoyed the quailty that this mini camera provides and it doesn’t feel like I’ve compromised in that area. In short and sweet terms, the only difference so far is that the images come up a little darker in Capture One than on the back of the camera and I’d say there’s rougly 15% less wriggle room with the exposure.
Thailand was a fusion of culture, colours and atmosphere and I finally understand why it was difficult to understand this country when looking from the outside in. Breathtaking scenes with no cohesion of colours, I enjoyed shooting all these scenes with the new camera so much!
